Shakib Al Hasan, the Bangladesh skipper in the 2023 World Cup, is the second person on the list with 12 fifties. He made his ODI World Cup debut in 2007 and, in all likelihood, is playing his last ODI World Cup in 2023 as the skipper of Bangladesh. The all-rounder has racked up ten half-centuries and two centuries.

Kumar Sangakkara (12 Fifties)

Sangakkara, who played his first World Cup match in 2003, has 12 fifties on the big stage. The flamboyant batter is the only player in the World Cup and ODI history to score four successive hundreds. He achieved this unique feat in the 2015 World Cup. With seven centuries and five half-centuries, Sangakkara is undoubtedly one of the greatest players to have graced the game. 

Rohit Sharma (11 Fifties)

Rohit Sharma is another Indian cricketer to find a place in the most fifties in ODI World Cup club. After making his World Cup debut in 2015, the Mumbai-born cricketer has scored over 1000 runs in close to 40 innings in the World Cup. He has scored a record seven World Cup hundreds, five of them coming in the 2015 edition, and four half-centuries.

Ricky Ponting (11 Fifties)

Australia’s 2003 and 2007 World Cup-winning captain, Ricky Ponting, was one of the most prolific players in the 50-over big event. He is the second leading run scorer in the tournament’s history with 1743 runs from 42 innings. The Punter has hit six half-centuries and five centuries in the World Cup. One of his hundreds came in the 2003 World Cup final, where Australia crushed India by 125 runs.
